A letter for Procare

What a feeling!!

I remember that day like it was just yesterday:

I had completed all the admin and checks that form part of the adoption process and was waiting for “the call”. It had been a few months since I was declared paper pregnant and to hurry time along, I filled my days with family, work, and doing the things I liked and enjoyed doing.

So, that morning, I was working from home and had just finished a meeting. My phone rang and it was my Procare social worker. My heart skipped a beat and I just knew what she was going to tell me!!! I asked her if this was “the call” and she said yes, it was. She said a lot of things, but the only thing that I remember, was that I had been matched to a gorgeous baby boy. That’s all I was interested in at the time!! Anyway, we proceeded to make arrangements for the matching meeting a few days later. I must mention that from the day of the call to the day that I held my son in my arms for the first time, I simply could not sleep because I was so nervous and excited.

Fast forward to the day my son came home – I will never forget the first time I saw him – our eyes locked and he smiled a bit… I just cried!! That day was just tears of joy all day as my son and I were getting acquainted with each other and discovering each other.

Motherhood is such a joy and a blessing and I’m so grateful to have the opportunity to experience it. Procare outdid themselves with my match - My son is just perfect – he is adorable, he’s funny, he’s smart, he’s super energetic and keeps me on my toes all day!! He’s a dream baby!! I believe that he was destined to be my son, and I was destined to be his mom.

Thank you once again to the staff at Procare – they were amazing from the very first meeting. They provided lots of information, answered every single question I had. They provided guidance and support every step of the way
